Job description, work day and responsibilities
Full–time
Responsibilities
• Responsible for all aspects of Production Database Administration including performance, integrity, and security of databases at MRI Software.
• Assist product development teams with troubleshoot issues that arise via monitoring, internal requests.
• Install and configure DBMS ((Required) SQL Server and (Nice to have) Oracle).
• Perform SQL Server patching and updates, SQL Server hardening and best practice implementation using current/new technologies/industry standards.
• Implement Windows failover clustering and AlwaysON Availability Groups in various environments. Implement DR solutions and DR testing annually.
• Implement different replication methods using Log Shipping, and transactional replication.
• Complete capacity planning of all database servers across platforms.
• Perform daily and weekly health checks of database servers and set up monitoring alerts across database servers. Implement backup policies and standard procedures for database backup and restorations, and implement/automate backups and restores, as required.
• Troubleshoot performance tuning using indexing and statistics, monitoring tools, Execution plans, MS Database Management objects/Scripts, and Query Stores.
• Manage database security access to users and prevent unauthorized access.
• Implement different encryption techniques for database servers such as TDE, Column level encryption.
• Create and maintain documents for standard operating procedures and technical documents to assist other Database Administrative team members.
• Experience with Scripting language, preferably PowerShell
• Develop Database Administrative tools and scripts for task automation.
• Develop and implement SSIS packages and SSRS reports.
• Develop and maintain Database Server inventory.
• Help development path of junior DBA’s.
• Experience with Cloud Services Azure IaaS/PaaS and AWS
Requirements/Qualifications
• 8+ Years of MS SQL Experience
• Experience with Oracle is a plus
• Experience with Other technologies (MySQL, PostGreSQL, MariaDB, Sybase) nice to have.
• SQL Server Certification is a plus (DP-300, MCSA)

• Experience with other software companies a plus
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer technology, MIS, or Computer Science preferred
• Associates degree (technical college) or higher in a computer-related field required
