Key Responsibilities:
Instruction:
Develop and implement detailed lesson plans that cover English language and literature topics, aligned with the curriculum and educational standards.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources, including multimedia, literature, and interactive activities, to engage students and enhance their learning experience.
Facilitate discussions, debates, and group activities to improve students’ critical thinking and communication skills.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Create and administer assessments, including tests, quizzes, essays, and projects, to evaluate student understanding and progress.
Provide constructive feedback and grades on assignments, ensuring timely communication with students and parents about academic performance.
Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and other relevant data.
Curriculum Development:
Contribute to the development and refinement of the English curriculum, ensuring it meets the educational standards and addresses diverse learning needs.
Stay updated on current trends and advancements in English language teaching and literature to incorporate into the curriculum.
Classroom Management:
Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
Implement effective classroom management strategies to address and resolve behavioral issues.
Student Support:
Provide additional support and resources to students who may be struggling with English concepts or assignments.
Encourage students to participate in extra-curricular activities related to English, such as literary clubs or writing contests.
Professional Development:
Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge in English language and literature.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and teaching strategies.
Administrative Duties:
Attend and participate in staff meetings, school committees, and parent-teacher conferences as required.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.
Compliance:
Adhere to school policies, procedures, and educational regulations.
Ensure all classroom and instructional activities comply with safety and legal standards.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Master’s degree in English, English Literature, or a related field from a recognized university.
Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification.
